prop size

I am trying to find the correct size and pitch<br />the only markings on the bottom of the prop are<br /><br />48-73140-15 does any one know what this set of # stands 4

Obviously a Merc prop, in 15" pitch...<br />How does this prop perform for you now???<br />Max RPM is???

The 731 has to do with the diameter and shaft size, <br />the 40 is the code for 15" pitch.<br />a 42 would be a 16 inch pitch.<br />a 44 a 17 inch pitch<br />a 38 would be a 14 inch pitch<br />a 36 would be a 13 inch.<br /><br />My guess is you have a 1990's Force 40, 50, or 70hp with 13 splines on the shaft.<br /><br />If you need to replace this prop, iboats has a decent Hustler aluminum prop which works well for me, for $91.<br /><br /> http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cgi?prod_id=1482
