Hi All,
I am currently running A 15 X 17 Aluminum prop. The next step down is 15 1/2 X 15. When the boat first goes in the water the wot is 4300/4400. After soaking, some growth, and my wife and son moving in, the rpm is shy of 4200.
At cruising speed i am very happy with the way the boat rides; although the holeshot is a little weak. Am I hurting the engine by using it this way? In my oppinion this boat was under powered from the start.
Thanks,
AL

--------------------
1987 26 foot 5000lbs Wellcraft Antigua, Alpha 1, 5.7 260 HP Raw water cooled.

Re: prop size question

Are you speaking of the 260 I/O??????
You may have to check into a tune-up if you haven't already done so...
If so, that 15-1/2X15 may be the path you have to take.

Re: prop size question

The Engine is kept well. New plugs, timing, oil change every 20hrs. Yes it is a 260 I/O. The question was am I damaging the engine by driving with this current set up?
Thanks
AL
