Prop Shaft Seals?

Does anyone know of a good site or have any info on the procedure for replacing the 2 prop shaft seal on an 1988 25hp Evinrude? I got the outer seal off but how do you get the inner one off?<br />Thanks

Hi Sprinbok....<br /><br />Did you pull the prop shaft bearing carrier out? If you did, you can take a long screw driver and tap out the inner seal from the gear case side.<br /><br />If you didn't pull the carrier, pull it.<br /><br />Do you have a service manual? Would be a great help to ya'.

Nope...don't need no special tools.<br /><br />Look down inside the bearing carrier and you will see two bolt head. 3/8" I believe. Take a 1/4" drive and pull these two bolts out. The carrier should pull out after the removal of these bolts. You may have to tug on it some but it should come out. If you have a slide hammer, this will make the job easier.
