prop shaft cracked 1-side entire visible length

My 1976 OMC 190 with electric shift stringer drive has developed a crack along one side of the prop shaft along the entire visible length. It seems to originate from the drive-pin thru-hole.

The outer shaft seal is not leaking (yet). Anyone out there ever have a similar crack and can tell me what will happen next?

I located a new OMC shaft and seal kit on e-Bay. I replaced the cracked shaft. Maybe this one will last another 34 years.
