The boat is a 1987 four winns 190 horizon bow rider, 230 hp v-8 305 merc, at the moment it has a ss 19 pitch prop. It runs all out at about 4500 rpm but seams sluggish of the start and takes awhile to plane. especially with a full tank of fuel and four adults and two kids in the boat. I would like some more off the start speed and quicker planing. I'm thinking a 17 pitch should get me what I want and should raise the max rpms to about 5k. Does all this sound correct? Any input on this subject is greatly appreciated.
