Prop selection

I just bought a used 2007 Bass Buggy 18 pontoon boat with a 50hp Mercury 2 stroke outboard. I currently have a 11 1/4 x 10 aluminum prop on there which is in need of repair. Wanted to change to a stainless, but have heard horror stories about breaking lower ends when hitting something. Anyway, what is ya'lls preference? What size do you think would work well on my boat in either aluminum or stainless? Thanks for your time.

Horror stories? Someone doesn't know what they are talking about. The hub on all props are designed to go before the lower unit.

Re: Prop selection

The stainless will hold up to minor dings better than aluminum but repairs will cost more. Can't tell you if stainles is worth it for bumps and bruises.
A stainless will improve performance some.If you give us the original max rpm and speed someone here can probably suggest a stainless prop.
Generally a stainless will improve performance and ventilate less.
