I want to pick up a spare prop for my 140 HP Johnson V4. It is on a 17' Glastron SSV170 and the current prop is a 21 pitch. I was going to go with a 19 pitch as a spare and was wondering which props would work well on this boat? Should I go with a Johnson/Evinrude prop or an aftermarket one?

To me a spare prop is just for emergency use to get me back to the boat ramp. Get the cheapest aluminum prop 21 pitch or less.

I hear you but I want to choose a prop that will work well on the boat incase it ends up being on their for a while (the last time I had to get one fixed it took 2 1/2 weeks to get it back ... summer's too short to miss out on a good weekend or two of boating).

OMC System Matched props are excellent props.

What do you mean by "system matched"? Are you referring to a model/style of prop or do you mean picking the proper OEM prop for your boat/motor combination? I did notice that the blades on the original OEM prop that came with the boat are noticably thicker than an OEM Merc prop (in other words they look like they wouldn't be damaged as easily if you happen to hit bottom in shallow water).
