My son took my skeeter out by himself for the first time yesterday afternoon. He has been out with me and friends countless times. The only damage was some grinding on a brand new aluminum prop. There is some grinding and mushrooming on the outside edges of each blade. Doesn't look like any metal is missing.<br />The question is can I do a home repair on that? The cheapest anyone will touch it for around here is $80, only to possible have it happen again until he gets the hang of it. I am pretty handy and have access to a full metal working shop at work.

Re: prop repair

If the prop is not bent then you should be able to clean it up with a file. Assess the damage, if you can't clean up the rough edges and mushrooming in 15 minutes with a file then you probably should let the prop shop do it. Prop edges should be sharp (like a dinner knife, not a fish fillet knife :D )
