I have a 2010 Larson LX 1850 with Merc 3.0 mpi and Alpha outdrive with 2.0 gear ratio. The boat came with a Black Max 14.25 x 21 and at WOT it will only turn 4200 rpm and 40 mph with normal load. This prop tends to ventilate in turns too much. I bought a Turning Point Legacy 14.25 x 19 in hopes of getting the rpm up between 4400-4800 at WOT. With this prop the rpms haven't changed, 4200 @ 37 mph. It handles much better than the Black Max though, no ventilation during turns. Although i like this prop, i would like something that will put me in the recommended rpm range at WOT plus not lose speed or handling. Anybody have any recommendations or any experience with this boat/engine combo so i don't have to play the guessing game again? Would like to stay with aluminum for $$ reasons. Thanks in advance for any help.

That seems low on the rpms. Are you trimming the drive out for best speed? How much weight is in the boat?
Mine runs 4600rpm with 13.75x19 @ 39 gps with just me in it. It will run 37@4800 with me and my family (700lbs w/gear) but that's with my 14.25x17 SS Vengeance prop. I have found with a load both props run about the same speed but the 17 pulls much better. I have never ran it w/the 17 by myself since it would just over rev the engine. Hope this helps.

Yes i trim the drive for best speed/handling. Normal load with the family on board is about 550 pounds.I figured a 21 pitch prop was a bit too much which is why i went with the TP 19 pitch. I've read they are good props but can be unpredictable. I'm pretty sure a 19 pitch is what i need, just need something to get the rpms up. Thanks for the help.

I know this thread is almost 2 years old but how did you make out? I also have a 2010 1850lx and my tach was calibrated wrong from the factory.
