Hi, I'm new to the boards and I am looking for a reccomendation for a new prop for my Honda 4 stroke.

boat : 14 foot misty river ( aluminum)
Motor : 2001 Honda 4 Stroke BF 15A
Average load (passengers and gear) : 750 Lbs

I am looking for a mix of performance that will both allow the best possible top end speed and still allow me to troll at a snails pace. So please reccomend both manufacturer and pitch for a prop for this set up!

A few other questions

- what would be the pitch of the standard Honda prop...I can't seem to find this info

- What type of top end speed can I expect to get with this boat/motor combo with an average load on?? will it even be able to get up on plane?

Thanks for the info
Chris

Re: Prop reccomendations for Honda

Read the stickies at the top of the page. Also the prop helps at the top and bottom of the prop store page.
While small motors may have a "standard" prop based on the typical boat they may be on; ususally a prop would be selected based on the application.
Best way to pick the ideal prop is to run the present prop get your max rpm and speed(gps).Give us your results. and your prop size(usually on the barrel of the prop).you may need a tiny tach reasonable easy to install or you may be able to borrow a shop tach.
the 4 strokes require careful prop selection to operate near the top of their rpm range. If you boat is a nice broad full sized 14 it will plane easier than a smaller slender light duty 14.With careful prop selection, weight distribution and trim it should plane. With a light load the boat could run about 25mph.
