Prop question

Hello prop experts. I have found a stainless steel prop at a decent price that I would like to try on my motor. But I'm not sure if it will work. First, I have a 1986 Mercury 75hp motor. It currently has a SS 21p prop. I'm only turning 4200 RPM, and everything else seems to check out good. So the advice for this motor, and this boat, is a 17p SS prop. So, as I said, I found one at a good price, but can't figure out if it works. The part number he gave me is 48-79830-17. The other numbers he got from the prop were on the hub, and read 804G653J and F 901 H stamped into the hub. I called a local Merc dealer, and he could not find anything on this part number. The seller says it came from a Mercruiser IO, and says he thinks it will work but doesn't know for sure.

Thanks for any help!

Re: Prop question

The seller says it came from a Mercruiser IO,

Nope,...... It Won't work on your motor........

Your motor has a 4" Gearcase,...... I/Os,+ the Large Outboards use a 4, 1/2" Gearcase.......
