prop pitch

okay wiped out my prop this weekend. hit a big rock and i doubt its salvagable. so i need a new one. question is how do i know what pitch to get. its going on a 1995 evinrude 25 horse power. that is on a 20 foot pontoon boat. what pitch would be best.

Check the prop you have. The diameter and pitch are usually marked either on the face of the hub or on the outer circumference of the prop at the base of the blades. There is no standard for prop selection. The correct prop for any boat/load is one that allows the engine to operate in its maximum wide open throttle rpm range.
