Im running a 22ft CC with a Johnson 175 with an aluminum 15x17 prop
the propeller is dinged up and have some chips in the blades I need to replace it but was wondering if anyone knows if going up or down in pitch or diameter would give me more RPM im getting 4900 WOT at 37mph id like to get 5500 RPM boats pretty heavy and planes pretty good for the weight, I use it in the jetties and some offshore should I go with a 4 blade?

Re: Prop pitch question

If you put a comparable pitch, & dia. 4blade on it somewhere around (14X16"), it will probably bring your WOT RPM's down, & scrub some speed, but get out of the hole quicker, stay on plane easier, & turn better. Your WOT RPM's seem a little low for that combo, but, You'd probably be better off with a 13X19" -3 Blade, the smaller Dia. should free up your motor some, and help make up for the extra pitch. There's less drag then a 4 blade.

Re: Prop pitch question

I'm sorry, I'm used to Mercruiser engine props, I know they come in a 13X19", I wasn't sure about OMC- Johnyrude's?
