I have a 26 ft fixed keel sailboat, and I am going to be buying a 10 hp outboard to put on it. If the motor had a high pitch prop, would the motor still move the boat ok? or do i need a low pitch prop?
does it really matter that much?

A 10 hp will move the boat- but it's not going to be anything fast and furious. I think diameter would be a bigger concearn than pitch in your case- like the HD kicker motors you see these days, they have a heavier duty gearcase turning a larger diameter wheel for more dig at lower speeds. Just run it and see what happens before ordering a new wheel.
