Went fishin with my brother n law in his jon boat. It's a 16' by 4' wide with a 1980 9.5hp Johnson. The motor starts good and overall runs well. However when you would get going it would all of a sudden act like the prop started slipping.Motor would rev up and you would not go any faster. He just bought this motor and put it on his jon.Is this motor to small for this boat?Does anyone know if these props have rubber hubs?Any ideas of what the problem could be?

Re: Prop not hookin

take a permanent marker, remove the prop, draw a straight line, like the picture. take the boat for a spin, make it do what it is doing. come home remove the prop, if the lines are still line up, it is not the prop, if misaligned, the hub in the prop has slipped, and need to have a new hub installed by a prop shop, or a new prop.
