I got me a propolicious question. Looking to replace my mercury prop, 50hp, 2-stroke, 1986, Mercury, short neck.

How do I measure, current prop diameter and pitch?

Many thanks

Re: Prop measurement

Prop size is usually on the prop.On the barrel or under the prop nut.
You can measure the diameter by measuring from the center of the bore to the tip of one blade and double it. Not necessary to know the diameter as diameter follows the pitch, design and appliucation. If you find your pitch and look up that application for youre motor you will be all set. This is the time to consider improving your setup. If you get us your present max rpm and
speed we can figure if you can improve your performance.Or if you have an issue you would like to solve we may be able to help.

Re: Prop measurement

Thanks fella!

Just got the got the boat out of the water for the close of the season, and the prop looks a bit run down with various chips and scrapes. I reckon I replace it verbatim. Thanks again!
