I have a 120 hp mercruiser I/O 1973. Can someone pass me on a link to instructions on how to change my prop. I'm sure someone has probably already posted this information, but it's a big sight. Thanks

"but it's a big sight" Correction= "sight" should be spelled "site"

Re: Prop installation help

If you have the older lock tabs you need to pry the 3 up that are depressed into the slots on the washer. Then a 1 1/8 socket to remove the nut. You may need to wedge a 2x4 between one of the prop blades and the cavitation plate.

Then pull the prop off. If it won't come off you have another problem as it is corroded to the shaft.

You should pull your prop at least once a year (more often for salt water) and liberally apply some sort of moly or marine anti corrosion grease.

They make special pliers to pull the tabs on the older lock washers, but you can but the newer style lock washer and save some aggravation later on.

BTW your local NAPA store can order the very same parts you can get form Sierra Supply.
