I purchased a 1994 manitou pontoon boat it is a 20 footer. It came with a 50 horse merc 4 stroke on it. last night we hit a log and bent the prop whoops. Long story short this is my first boat. I need to get a new prop it has a 4 blade on it now and would top out at about 15 mph at 4800 rpm's The prop is aluminum.

So here are the questions:
What is the best prop to use for pleasure boating and light fishing mostly cruising though?

How do I identify what prop I have?

I would like to get a little more top end whithout sacrificing manueverability what do you recomend?

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Re: Prop Help

We need to know your prop size(on the barrel or under ther prop nut.
Do you know your max rated rpm?It does appear you need a prop change
but we'll need your present prop size to tell.Stick with the 4 blade prop.
