first i just want to say how helpful this site has been and thanks!!
i have a 15-1/2 ft champion with a mercury 70hp serial #0b131173. motor seems to be mounted at proper height my top speed loaded is 37-38mph at 4900rpm trimmed out which seems alittle low after reading many post.
the prop i am running currently is a quicksilver lazerII 48 16990 A40 20P which is what was on it when purchased.
i have the stock aluminum prop 48 77346 A40L 19P. does it seem that i may be over proped with my rpms only being at 4900?

thanks again all reply are appreciated.

Re: prop help needed!!!

Seems like it to me. Have you tried the aluminum prop yet?

Do you know what the Merc. suggested RPM range is for WOT? - This you need to know to make the determination.

Re: prop help needed!!!

after checking the spec page it seem to be 4750-5250rpm's so manybe i'm where i need to be.

it seems most all post i've read when switching to ss prop everyone go down in pitch but in my case the previous owner went up 1'' in pitch.

no i have not tried the stock aluminum prop, never even gave it a thought till i started reading about different prop. i always assumed the ss was better but as i read more i see poor prop selection can kill performance no matter what the material.

thanks for the reply.
