I have been looking at the Alumacraft Pro 175 as my first boat to buy. It is a 17'5" bass boat that can be maximum rigged at 90hp. I looked at boattest.com and found that they had done testing on this rig. In the test session they rigged the Pro 175 with a 75hp Honda motor and got a top speed of 42mph. I want to rig the boat with a Yamaha 90hp 4stroke motor. By upping the horse power from a 75 to a 90, do you think i can find a prop that will get me above 45 mph in this setup but still get the suggested rpms at WOT? I was kind of looking at a boat that could get 50mph at WOT but a little over 45mph would be just fine, since Alumacraft doesnt make a mod V bass boat rated for 115hp.

Re: Prop for Yamaha F90

the short answer i believe would be yes. with the F90 yamaha you should get 45-50mph, maybe even a bit over 50 if you are lucky, assuming the honda 75 moved the boat 42mph. you should have no problem finding the correct prop.
