Prop for Chap 183

I have a Chap 183 with a Merc 4.3.
The prop it came with was an aluminum 14.25 x 21 pitch. With this, we top out about 48-50 mph and about 4800 rpm.
We just got a S.S. 14.25 x23 pitch prop. It was able to get 48 mph, but only about 4200 rpm.
Does this sound right, or did I get the wrong S.S. prop?

You probably should post this in the prop forum. With that said, yes, you probably got the wrong pitch, not necessarily the wrong prop . . .

With Stainless props sometimes you actually need to go down in pitch as they do not flex as much as aluminums. This makes them more efficient, but they act like a little more pitch as compared to an aluminum. You probably need a 21" and that may still be poor for hole shot although I believe it will improve on your top speed numbers, maybe by a lot 8)

Also, you need to post the number of blades and the make and model to get the best responses.
