Time for a better prop than the OEM 3 blade alum prop that came on my 2000 188 Fish&Ski. Here's the info...
Length 18'
Beam 8'
Motor Mercury 4.3L 190HP
Current prop 14x23 alum
top RPM around 4500-4600
Manufacture recommend top RPM 4400-4800
top spped around 46 (based on in dash gage)
Manufacture est top speed 50-52

The Prop Shop of Cedar Falls Iowa (any feedback on this store would also be nice) has recommended the Turbo 2+2 4 blade prop with 14-1/4x20. The guy says he has put this prop on the same boat as what I have for people that do mostly tubing and sking and had great results. My dealers says not to get a 4 blade but then said he really doesn't have much experience with them. The guy selling the prop says that this prop should get me around 4600RPM at WOT.

I do mostly tubing and sking and would like any feedback that I can get.

Thanks,
Carl

Forgot to say that the price I was quoted on the Turbo 2+2 prop was $400 shipped and it would cost me $30 to switch to a different prop if it wasn't what I wanted.

Any place that has a lower price?

Howdy, Carl. Don't buy that prop, or any other prop from that guy. To reduce pitch by 3" and still get the same rpm at w.o.t. is smoke. The numbers you give suggest that you have the right prop. You can spend $400, or even a thousand and not notice any difference except ooohs and aaahs at the ramp. I don't think that's your thing.

Save your bux and take a kid fishing.

JB
