I will be replacing the prop on my Yamaha C90 mounted on a Lund 1700 (see previous posting). It came with a 13.5 X 15 aluminum prop. Would I be making a mistake to replace it with a stainless steel 13.25 X 19. Most of my riding is done with 1 or 2 people and a little fishing equipment. Thanks for any advice.

Some people will dissagree with me hear but. It depends on where you boat. If their are alot of stumps and/underwater objects..Stick with alum props they tend to break quicker and cause less damage to the lower unit gears. And you can buy two or three for the price of a stainless steel.

Trent is right on the money. Useage determines which prop type is best. SS isn't always the best choice. ;) <br />Backlash

Your lower unit is $1200 new. an aluminum prop is $105 (best oem deal for C90 13.5 X15 I can find). You can get the props respun a few times as well for 75% of new. I have 2 C90s and would rather replace an occasional prop vice risking lower unit more than necessary. Particularly on a boat that light you probably won't gain much with Stnlss. Common Alaska setup.
