Thrust washer is apparently different. Usually a replaceable hub is listed (on iboats anyway) with the appropriate thrust washer....translated meaning that the diameter or mounting position on the prop shaft has different dimensions than other props/prop types/manufacturers.

I experienced just that in going from a removable hub back to a rubber hub. I went to a marine dealer who sold used props. He had a box full of thrust washers. I fished around in the box and found the correct one to fit my newer prop with a rubber pressed in hub. In my case the new prop wouldn't go on enough to get threads for the prop nut and adapter since the prop wasn't flush at the front-thrust washer location. A smaller OD washer that fit into the detent in the front of the newer prop solved the problem. Seems you have just the opposite problem.

Take a couple more pictures: 1. a side view of the thrust washer mounted on the prop shaft and 2. a view of the other end of the prop, both at that close range. I/we understand your length at the rear problem.

A ruler included in both shots for diameter reference would really help too. I'm thinking that your prop has a detent, like my Laser !! that fits a smaller diameter thrust washer which you may have, like I needed, but your engine has a different length prop shaft and needs a larger diameter washer to contact the raised contact area which will force the prop to sit farther back on the shaft where the splines aren't exposed.

1. I assume that you can push the prop all the way against the thrust washer and it doesn't contact the lower unit housing.....spins freely in N gear. That says the thrust washer is ok and not your problem.

2. Per the picture, you are missing 2 parts: 1. A cast aluminum spacer washer (goes on next in your picture) with detents where the SS locking ring (next part to be installed) tabs are to be pressed, and the SS locking ring that fits over the splines and the tabs bend down to lock the washer against the prop shaft which locks the self locking prop nut....the last piece to be installed (2 methods) to ensure the prop nut doesn't come off accidentally.
