1990 Mariner 150hp. I am removing a quicksilver laser2 23p prop and installing a unknown brand(it was free and has no markings) 21p prop. The original used a washer that engaged the shaft spline and then a lockplate with bendable tabs to engage the washer. Finally the nut goes on. The new prop leaves no spline exposed for the washer to engage. It appears to use a different lock style to secure it? Sorry, I tried loading pictures but it says they are too large...

Thank you! That is exactly what I did this morning. Don't know why this did not occur to me sooner but I was too fixated on getting the splines to come through to put the other part on. Might say I couldn't see the forest for the trees!
