Have a 97 model (see user name) with 5.7 Mercruisder Alpha-One Generation II mercruiser outdrive. Purch used and boat came with a ballistic 19 pitch SS prop. Nothing to compare too and not sure if best for my use or not.

A rookie in the seat of my truck thought best to drive up the ramp at speed of light as I just pulled onto the trailer.

Going with an aluminum, but not sure on pitch. Usually have a boat full and primary activity is towing skiers, knee boarders etc. But do not want to crawl across the lake either.

Looking for a good all around

Re: prop 4 my money trap

It had been running about 4300 max rpm....and around 42-44 mph if the guage is correct. Not sure what WOT means?...i had a prop shop repair the SS prop once before, but a boat mech told me it looked to be missing about an inch in length on each blade.

Primarily use it for skiing with a boat loaded - 7 in and 1 on a rope...just want good hole shot, but am afraid of having to worry about over-rev.

not sure if 4 blade same pitch 19 would be good for me or not....also, am having a hard time holding constant speed - when throttle up or down for turns etc it seems to over-react and either speed way up or slow way down, which causes me to take on verbal abuse. I find myself constantly doing the ole finger tap dance on throttle to hit the sweet spot.

Was thinking maybe due to poor prop since it seems to respond fine with no skiers.

WOT is wide open throttle. RPM'S when the throttle lever is fully down. See if you can try some different props also. Tests props are the only way you will find what you are looking for. Good luck!

I think the Lexor in a 17P would be a good choice
a 19P 4-blade will make it worse and you're about 500 low of where you should be with a load for what you are doing.
