I have a few projects I'm working on. First is a 1979 Boston Whaler trying to repair the floor and fill in all the voids around the entire boat. I had to grind all the paint off the bottom I'm in the process of fairing some damaged areas. I'm also working on a 2000 Johnson 30hp engine it was neglected by the previous owner who never maintained it at all. I also have a 1970 Johnson 18hp outboard that I'm trying to convert into a electric start. I'm having a tough time locating a starter that will fit so if anyone has any knowledge about what I can use I greatly appreciate it.

First, welcome aboard

next, on your Boston Whaler, if the foam is water-soaked, you may want to find another hull.

:welcome: aboard.

This thread is going to go off the rails. You're talking about 3 different things in the Johnson/Evinrude section, one of which is fixing the Whaler. If you are looking for repair advice on the hull, it's best to start a thread in the Resto section.

On the motors, start a thread on the 30HP if you are looking for help and keep this thread focused on the 18HP.

Doing it in 3 threads makes it easier on all of us. Good luck on your projects.

To heck with the Johnson, let's see some pictures of the Whaler . . . :thumb:

Is the 30HP intended for the Whaler? Is it the 13' Whaler?
