I have '77 Mercruiser / Alpha 1 that's been setting idle partially disassembled.
We have dropped a new (used) motor and want to fire the motor up to ensure the motor is solid before proceeding with the rest of the items.

I'd prefer to have water flowing thru the block but don't have the outdrive attached. I assume the small hole in the middle of the rear assembly where the outdrive bolts up is the water inlet.
How best to attach a water hose for running a water to the block jacket?

Disconnect the water inlet hose that goes from the transom shield to the thermostat housing. Adapt your water hose to the thermostat and start it up.
