Re: Problems

What is the boat made of? Dimensions of boat less important than weight.....sounds like you have wrong motor on boat...had a 15.5 with 50 and a 16 with 90....16 with 25 sounds waaayyyy off....if fiberglass there is no help for it...if aluminum then what is the rpm at w.o.t.? should be 5500-6000.

Re: Problems

Assuming you have an aluminum jon boat with a tiller, it's possible to make a tiller handle extension out of about a 2 or 3 foot long, 2"diameter piece of PVC pipe, slit one end with a saw and slide it on tiller handle, clamp it on with an aeroclamp, then you can slide your seat forward by about 2 feet, more or less, would help you a lot with weight distribution. You need to rig it up so you can reach back to your motor controls/shifter fairly easily. I've used this on my 17' aluminum canoe with 3HP motor and it helps a lot with balance. I've also run with 50LB. sandbags in front and it helps some too. Good Luck!

Re: Problems

It is aluminum and has stick steering, I don't have a tach but i assume the rpm's are not as recommended when motor is trimmed out to run smooth. The fishing deck consumes most of the boat all except about two feet where my feet are when running the boat. I am considering 10 pitch, factory prop is 11 1/4. Boat is fairly heavy with all the deck (Deck is made of aluminum so not heavy like ply wood or fiberglass) Is prop pitch the way to go? All help is kindly appreciated!
