Problems with Yamaha I/O returning to neutral

I just purchased a boat with a yamaha I/O motor and outdrive. I took it out today and when I shifted from foward to neutral it did not shift back into neutral, stayed in gear. Any suggestions on what it can be?

Ayuh,.... I'm sorry to hear that,.... Yamaha outdrives are about as Rare as Hen's Teeth....
I guess you shoulda stuck with Outboards,....
You can look up Capt. Ken for parts,+ advise,... Or Sell it....

The Yamaha is a rare setup...Kind of like a OMC Cobra that was crossed with something else.....

I would look at the lower shift cable to start with though..

I had the same problem with mine a few years ago.I replaced the throttle and shift cables and was good after that.

Thank you. If you don't mind me asking, How hard are they to replace? I have never owned an I/O before, only outboards?

My boat has the Morse brand controls 33c.Lengths vary for different boats.
