my trim motor started playing up last time we went out.

an intermitant problem going up which sounds like the pump slowly stops . i think it may be the soleniod at the bottom which controls the up/down trim/tilt, which has jammed and when i try to lift the motor it is pumping against itself.

has anyone else had this problem? is it possible to service the solenoid valve thing.

if it is an intermittant prob. it probably is the down sol. getting energized somehow
solenoids are replacable ,but make sure the wiring on the boat and engine are sound  the solenoids change the direction of the motor rotation ,they don't actually valve the hydraulics
