problems with Suzukis

I have had 6 lower units go in 83 hours of use on both 200 hp suzukis. year 1999. has anyone else had gear problems, i would like to know. They do not seem to be able to find the problem. please help

sorry to hear of your problems. i've got a couple "old" 200's that just last year had the first lower unit problem. was my fault, changed props and lost the thrust washer and tore up the trailing edge of the casting but still functional. hope someone else is more helpful than i was

Sounds to me that what ever is causing the problem has not been fixed. I have own 2 Suzuki's and had no problems with them except a bad propeller shaft seal on one. Are you idling too high going into gear? Did you check the shift mechanism to make sure it is being fulling engaged into gear? Good luck!
