Has anyone experienced any problems with new crusaders 300hp. 350 ci carbed Crusaders? I bought two brand new ones and have had numerous MAJOR problems. Crusader had replaced one of the new ones already. Now they both failed, including the new replacement one. thanks

One failure, could be a bad engine.....it does happen sometimes.
Three failures (and you gave zero indication what the failure was) aren't being caused by the engines.
There is a whole lot more to this story than posted here.

I was reading about this before, the oil pick-up tubes were dropping off the oil pump.

I can't imagine anyone not welding the pick up pipe to the pump.
That's begging for trouble.
If the engines came w/o welded pipes, the installer should have done it, period.

Re: Problems with New CRUSADERS

To try to answer everyone , here's the problems. On two of the engines the pickup lines fell off and were lying in the bottom of the pan. These things are pressed on. I'm no mechanis but I could only assume the best way would be to tack weld them on. As far as the other engine is concerned, the ibgition module failed causing the engine to backfire and hydro lock at 2800 - 3200 rpm. This problem I cannot totally blame Crusader. It's a Mallory distributor. I guess this would be Mallory's fault. Thirdly, The mechanic who installed them has been in the business for over thirty years. I can honestly tell you his reputation and work is impeccable. He can't believe these problems keep happening! It's definately not an installation problem. These engines had never seen anything over 3200 rpm. I'm just hoping Crusader does the right thing here. I will post a reply when I have the final outcome from Crusader. Thanks to all who replied

Re: Problems with New CRUSADERS

I forgot to mention that the oil pump problems happened at 125 hrs. and 150 hrs. respectfully. And to agree with tommays, I did my homework before purchasing these engines. Crusader was highly reccomended by many of my boating club friends and mostly by the mechanic who installed them. Believe me guys, I treat this boat and the engines with extreme care!!!!!! I truly believe its a defect from General Motors. thanks again
