Feel free to move this if doesn't belong here.
I have a 1974 Evinrude 115hp, lst time I took it out had the shift selector stuck in neutral. Well it would go forward but wouldn't enagage, just accelerate; and will not go into reverse at all. It felt like the safety push thingy wasn't doing its job.
Well I took it apart, without disconnecting anything and all the ssems good, put it back together and it worked fine. Then it did it again. The problem is when I go WOT with the lever at full horizontal position, it won't stop, and if I go further certain position (let's say, more than the full throttle) when I put in on neutral it won't go back (to reverse). Looks like the gears inside are misaligned or something like that, because when I take it apart and align the teeth it will work good.
Also noticed like someone had been playing with it before, it doesn'r have the "start in neutral" only switch, so I think i'm missing something that will stop the lever to go pass certain point.
Does this make sense? Any advice?

Thanks,

Juan
