Problems with mercury 7.5hp

Hello everyone,
I'm having a few problems with my mercury 7.5hp outboard. The serial number is 9183405. Firstly the outboard control- the warm up lever keeps coming up when going from reverse to forward? As for the engine, it seems to run fine at full power but slower speeds it seems to stall. It also stall when going from full to idle or to reverse. The other day it was also being a pain to start, it would fire up for a few seconds but then cut out. I ended up having to start it a quickly go to full to get it to stay running and get us back to our marina. Oh also can you help with the year of my outboard. Thanks.

Hi there,hope you don,t mind me asking you a question about your 7.5,but where did you find the serial number on your engine.

Hi there. It was on a silver plate on the outboard leg. Judging by your question i assume that its not the serial number, doh! Where can i find it?

If you have a plate on the outboard leg with info on it,as far as i know,Yes,this is your serial number,i was just hoping you might have found it somewhere else as well.
