Problems using my serial number to find parts

Ive got a Mariner 15hp 2 stroke outboard i beleive it to be a 1995. The serial number plaque reads:
Serial number 684c L 345314
Made in japan

This does not seem to match any of the mariner serial numbers that part websites bring they all seem to start OB... .

Can anyone tell me where im going wrong?

you definately have the numbers recorded wrong -

from what you gave though i came up with ...

serial number code - ML684 ( using your numbers)

serial number - 345314

****note they use a serial number code and a serial number - for the rest of your numbers :

the "L'' is for longshaft

and the "C" is part of the horsepower -it's a 15C

use the numbers above and see if that helps - i was able to look up a carb kit using those numbers .
