Ok, first I am a Boat Novice so don't beat me up. I bought this boat cheap from a guy who needed to sell. I do have mechanical knowledge, cars , motorcycles etc but not boats. I have used this forum and read everything I could 30 hours at least. I downloaded both manuals and have gone through them several times..now I am on overload.

Problem-Engine ran perfect first time out, idled great up on plane etc. Later in the day it would not start. I checked all the trouble shooting ignition stuff (printed from here), spark, coil, no points it was converted and all tested out. Checked fuel system, replaced both filters, and looks as though carb is getting gas.

Took the boat home and went through the engine again. Found the T/T switch wires completely bare resting on the block. From posts here this should not be tied to ignition so I taped them up temporarily and tried to start the engine. Fired right up and idled fine. Have started it fine 5 more times since. I traced the wires into the harness and can not find any obvious shorts? Two wires go in to harness near pump and two travel to the trim gauge.

The coil on the boat is new, new plugs, lower unit rebuilt, compression checked, overall well maintained engine it appears. I am stumped as all grounds appear good and I can not find any other bare or shorted wires?

Sorry for the long post!
