Problems removing Yamaha Power Trim

I have a 2005 Yamaha 115 4 Stroke. I need to remove the power trim assembly in order to change a few seals. All the oil has run out of the power trim and I'm sure it has air in the system. The problem that I have is that I can not lift the motor to lock it in place. I have opened the pressure relieve valve but it still will not budge. Any ideas on how to remove the power trim with the motor all the way down?

Re: Problems removing Yamaha Power Trim

Well, without the intention of sounding like a know it all, did you turn the emergency trim screw counter clockwise all the way till it stopped? It won't fall out. I made that mistake with a different motor. The only other option I know is to take the motor off the boat and remove the t & t unit from the front of the midsection. It is not as much of a chore as one might think. If you can get the skeg to touch the ground, then you can possibly use the trailer jack to to lift the boat up enough to take the weight off the transom bolts? Or if you or someone you know has a vehicle engine jack, that will definitely work. Good luck!
