Hello folks ive got Alpha 1 Gen 2 with permalube ujoints which are more difficult to remove..
Ive got ball puller, it works fine but the retainer nut teeth are blocking the cap...
So Ive cut the tooth and it works... but somebody told me I cannot run the drive with missing tooth, but why?? its just a nut
Do I need to remove the whole Yoke assembly with gears to change this retainer nut or I can just unscrew it and pull out the nut?

I’m sorry what do You mean? Eng is not my mother language so sometimes it’s confusing :)

can I just unscrew it and wiggle it from the yoke side and put the new nut again or leave it?
I’m asking because as I wrote on the other post you should not use the nut while teeth’s are broken because the big oring which slides in (the quadrant oring from the bell housing gasket kit) can be pushed into the bell housing And the water can get into the bellows and sink the boat

If 1 or 2 teeth are broken that will not cause a problem
You do not have to unscrew the nut.
I would not unscrew the nut.
The quadrant oring will be ok.
