Oooops!. Sorry, Shep. I deleted the other one before I read this one.
This is what it said: "recently installed a garmin 152 gps.(unit was purchased in 2003,but never installed until now)after initializing unit and programming some waypoints,the screen went blank except for a thin horizontal line.could not shut unit down and no commands would work.i had to shut off pwr.to unit and re-boot it.it starts up fine ,but goes blank in just a few minutes.i was told that i need to up grade the units software. ( because of age)does anyone know the procedure to do this?

Who told you that you need to update the software? I doubt that it was Garmin Tech Support.
Talk to Garmin. My guess is that you can send it to them and get it back workng.
