I have a Gekko GTO 22 ski boat and recently when I tried putting gas into it the gas wasnt going all the way into the tank. It fills up the intake area but doesnt make its way all the way down to the tank. Any suggestions as to what to do?

Re: Problem with fueling up boat

a little more info could be helpful,
when the filler neck is full does the fuel sit there or does it slowly go down,
if the fuel is sitting there does the tank burp(bubbles of vapor come through the fuel) while gas goes down,
or does the backflow preventer kick the pump off.

How long have you had this boat?

Your going to have to check your filler line and see if it is kinked..
Make sure you vent and vent line are clear and not kinked..
If that isn't the problem there may be something in the filler neck or line blocking it which would probably require removal of the line.

my boat is picky about how far you put the nozzle in and will trip the backflow preventer shutting down the pump

Same thing happened to my boat. The fuel intake hose has a one way valve at the tank. It lets gas in but will not let it out, in case the boat sinks. That valve is probably stuck closed, the one on my boat was easy to access and replace. But from what I understand, on some boats it is a very difficult job.

My boat is hard to fill I have to slowly add fuel and find that with the nozzle just barely in the opening works best-- I can see gas vapors coming out of the vent and know it is not clogged--it is just slow.

Re: Problem with fueling up boat

I had the same problem earlier this year with my new to me boat and it ended up being a kinked filler hose. Replacing it makes fueling the boat just as easy as my car or truck now.
