The VDO combination time/hours/temp/depth gauge on my '01 Bayliner Capri 195 went wacky after I inadvertently hooked up the negative wire to the positive battery post while changing the battery. The unit now continuously cycles thru all the functions non-stop. The readout funbtion changes every second. I cannot set the clock time but the other info still seems to be correct. I was told by my dealer that a complete new dash cluster would be required at a cost of $1400 and that they are currently unavaliable! Has anyone ever had to repair or replace one of these VDO units and is there a cheaper way to do it? I would like to keep the dash original if possible as this boat has few hours and is in excellent condition. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The same thing has just happened to me. Did you ever get a fix for this problem?

Thanks Jason
