I have a 135HP 1993 Mercury Outboard that has been giving me headaches over the past three summers.
This boat was purchased second hand with little under 75 hours on the engine.

The engine starts fine, runs great at top end and with waterskiers (32+mph)but as soon as I cut back on the throttle to under 2000 rpm the engine will starve for gas and the only way to keep it running - is to hit the throttle or to choke it.

The starving is very noticable when the boat is under load - wakeboarders/tubing/small kids waterskiing.

My merc mechanics have replaced fuel filters, gas lines, primer bulbs and checked for any possible air leaks.
Some mechanics have mentioned it may be due to the way the carbs have been set up compared to the altitude its being run in therefore changing the jets in the carbs etc.

I know their could quite a few reasons for this - but the dealership has yet to fix the problem three different years - therefore its time to find a different mechanic and get some new ideas on this frustrating problem.

Thanks
