I have a 35 hp 1958 Evinrude Lark motor that I need to connect to my new steering cables I bought. It is a Teleflex QC II. I don't know how to connect the end of the cable to the motor. Does someone out there no how I can do this and what I need to do to hook it up?

Re: Problem connecting steering cable to motor

Hi Ozzy,

I unfortunately don't have an answer to your question. But I may shortly. When and if I figure it out, I'll report back. I currently have a '61 40 hp Evinrude Lark III. I just took it out this past weekend for the first time since last summer when I had a shift problem. I got the shift problem fixed and she runs GREAT ! I'm so pleased. I too plan on getting rid of the old cable and pulley steering system and installing a Teleflex Q/C. I'm pretty sure that they make an adaptor for that purpose. I did a little checking briefly but that was before I knew how well this engine was working. Now that I know she's running well and reliably, I think I'll invest in the new steering system.

I'll let you know when I find out.

Good luck !
