Hello all- I am having problems adjusting the front motor mounts on my 86 Alpha 1 gen1 4.3 l setup. Does anyone know the correct nut size for the upper and lower nuts on this setup? My 1-1/8 wrench seems to have too much play and I cannot get a 1-1/16 wrench on them. Also i cant get a deep socket on the top nuts it hits the manifolds and a shallow socket wont fit over the threaded stud. It appears there is a shim under the bottom nut-I am guessing someone lowered the bottom nut and stuck a shim in there and then retightened it back up? I need to lower the mounts for my alignment and tried cranking them but could'nt get them to move.

Ayuh,... Got a Picture,..??

Put yer 1, 1/8" wrench on the top nut, 'n break it free...
Then you should be able to adjust the lower nut...

If they're Rusted badly, it's abit more work than normally necessary...

redchevy,

The shim looking thing you see is probably a locking device for the nut. It will have a tab on it that you bend over the flat on the nut. Use a screw driver or pick and pry the tab away from the nut and your wrench should fit. Good luck on your project

Bondo-when you say put a wrench on the top nut are you talking about the nut on the top of the mount as your looking down at the motor? You can only get a socket in there.
