Prob #1: Honda 90 wont go into neutral

Hi all. Couple of weeks ago, my gear linkage snapped - which I replaced. The little brass cube ( an adjustment screw of sorts )which receives the push rod is only holding the rod by a couple of threads; for some reason, the push rod did't seem to fit in length like the last one did. One thing I noticed after installing the new cable/sheath was that the neutral safety switch located dead center at the base of the powerhead was not exactly centred when my gear lever was in neutral - it was just barely enough to indicate neutral to the kill switch to allow starting. I'm not sure if this is related to the problem but I mention it anyway.
So, after I replaced hte cable, the motor ran and shifted fine. About three trips ago, I noticed when I came to neutral from forward, it took maybe two seconds before the motor actually went into neutral. Going from reverse to neutral was fine. Tonight, when trailering the boat, the motor wouldnt go in neutral at all. AS a matter of fact, even moving the lever to reverse didnt correct this; it went directly from forward to reverse. When I came back to neutral from reverse, it stayed in reverse until I pushed forward and then went into forward again.
Any thoughts?
Now see prob #2

Hey MajBach...it appears we're the only two Honda owners with shifting problems. I also have a BF90A (see my post for more specifics). Just wondering if you got any responses from other sources.

No expert and no Honda. But sounds like simple linkage adjustments which are probably causing serious damage to the gears.

Motor ran flawlessly. Wish I could be more help. It appeared that the high idle (1100 as opposed to 900 rpm tonight) was the cause of my woes. The only other possibilty I can think of for you two is I have notice when my motor is trimmed in the trailer position ( or really high), it my tighten or slacken the wire inside the sheath. This is especially noticeable as more resitance in the control box lever. On my boat it is due to the dealer not using a long enough cable/sheath ***'y. Perhaps this has something to do with your set-up too. If I had another 1/2 inch of steel wire, I could remedy this with the adjustment cube thingy inside the o/b. Let me know if you figure it out.
