Priming Fuel Filter After Changing It?

I have a big 10 micron fuel filter/water separator between the gas tank and the squeeze bulb on my 2001 90 HP Merc 4-stroke.

How do you "prime" the filter before starting? Just squeezing the bulb doesn't do the job. Should I take it off, fill it with gas and reinstall it?

Thanks!!!!

I would start the engine and let it pump the fuel through the line...

I just installed a 10 micron fuel filter/water separator and I filled the filter with gas before i screwed it in place. Since the outlet pickup is lower than the inlet there will always be some air trapped unless you fill the filter prior to installation.
