Hey Everybody.I have a 94 Bass Tracker 40 Hp Evinrude that keeps Losing Prime on the Bulb.I can Squeeze the Bulb and it's find & Drive all over the Lake, but when I stop and Fish & go back to Start the Motor it's Hard to Start & sure enough the Bulb has lost it's Prime.I can Squeeze it a Couple of Times & it get's Hard & it Fires right back up.This Started Late Last Season,So I replaced the Bulb & Still the Same Thing. Can anybody give me any Ideals as to what it could be,& how to Trouble Shoot the Problem.Thank's.

Once you prime and start, the bulb won't stay hard. It's just a lump in the fuel line after that.

if it is siphoning gas off the carb the check valve is bad in the bulb or you have an air leak in the fuel system. but normally the bulb will soften up after starting as the fuel pump is pulling fuel thru it.

When you shut the motor off, the carbs are full of gas. It should not be necessary to refill them (squeeze the bulb) to restart. Unless they are leaking, which I doubt. More likely you are forcing extra gas through the float valve by mashing on the bulb, making it flood a bit i.e. a richer mixture. Can't you get the same result by simply using the choke/primer?

Thanks for the Imput,When I Do use the Choke it seems to Flood alot of the time & that's just Hitting it Once.If I pump that Bulb I can just Barely touch the Key & it Fires right up.I bought this Boat New & I Never had to Prime it to Start it after the First Start of the Year.It just started doing this at the End of Last Season,That's why I bought the New Bulb thinking that was the Problem. Most of the time I could just Touch the Key & it Started right up like it was a Brand New Engine. Thanks again for Your Thoughts.I Appreciate it.I think I going to try a portable Tank to see if it's the Hose from the Motor to the Tank,or the Tank itself.
