I have a 75 hp 2003 merc 2 stroke. The gas line from the permanent fuel tank will very slowly and I mean very slowly leak out some fuel... just enough to leave an oily residue in the rear transom well to collect dirt and make one heck of a mess... I have replaced the fuel line with a brand new one and bingo within 2 weeks same problem back... Any suggestions?

The primer bulb will also go soft if I am out fishing and am stopped for a period longer than like an hour.... I was told that if oil got back into the line it would deteriorate it, I dont know... Is there some form of check valve in the engine for this... I know there is a check valve in the primer bulb, but this is a brand new one...

Thanks
Dan

I would replace the primer bulb and line at the same time.

Where did you buy the second one? Your local Mercury dealer has the best hoses and squeezies. They cost more but are worth it.
It's odd that the new one is leaking. You sure the ball is leaking? Ethanol is delaminating older hoses causing them to leak.J

I am not possitive and dont know if it is the bulb or the line... they were purchased from West Marine... It was the entire hose and bulb assembly I purchased, and started leaking within a couple of days... Not sure what could be the cause...

Have you checked you have a good seal at both ends?

A bit of rubbish can sometimes span the seal(s) and allow fuel to track past the seal, which could present the symptoms you post.

My hose connects via hose clamps to fittings on both ends... I tightened them when installed, but will check tomorrow..
