I wondering if there is a easy way to tell if you are getting a fair deal on a used motor? I have checked the web site, its like the blue book on outboards. The prices are alot lower than what people are asking for their motors. What year did they change rating hp to the prop? Thank You.

Re: pricing motors

it depends on where you live really.. like.. FReSH WATER VERSES SALT WATER, but.. you need to test it out.. thats the best way!

if its an outboard then its a fairly "simple" engine!! BUT! an outboard can easily go bad without the owner even knowing it, like if the propeller was not aligned it could mess up the gearing and everything else inside..

so the best thing to do is either have it tested some way OR just buy a new one!
